What the sign means
Darb Al-Hayya
Sadu-inspired machine embroidery. An original design drawn by us; not Sadu weaving and not a handwoven piece.
Motif meaning (Darb Al-Hayya): A zigzag, said to be a snake's path in the sand. Sources: Canavan, 2011; Al-Ogayyel and Oskay, Brill; Emarat Al Youm.
With respect for Al Sadu and the Bedouin women who have kept this craft alive across generations. Read more about the motifs on our Signs page.
The embroidery designs shown are original designs prepared by Sadu by miniblank, inspired by traditional Sadu motifs. They are not Sadu weaving and not handwoven products. The brand claims no right in the traditional Sadu motifs themselves; its rights are limited to its own designs. The embroidery is machine-made.
A zigzag that runs across the weave like a track in the sand. On a cotton five-panel cap.
Material and embroidery
100% cotton, soft-structured. The Darb Al-Hayya design, machine embroidered on the front of the cap in standard embroidery threads close to its own colours, within an area of about 10 × 4 cm.
