What the sign means

Darb Al-Hayya

Sadu-inspired machine embroidery. An original design drawn by us; not Sadu weaving and not a handwoven piece.

Motif meaning (Darb Al-Hayya): A zigzag, said to be a snake's path in the sand. Sources: Canavan, 2011; Al-Ogayyel and Oskay, Brill; Emarat Al Youm.

With respect for Al Sadu and the Bedouin women who have kept this craft alive across generations. Read more about the motifs on our Signs page.

A zigzag that runs across the weave like a snake's track in the sand. On a light visor for the Eid sun.
